What is Domiciliary Care?

Domiciliary Care is also called Home Care and consists of a range of services designed to help people in the comfort of their own homes.  The level of care can vary from person to person, with some requiring help for simple tasks such as shopping and domestic chores, while others may require personal care, help managing medication, or even overnight support. In some instances, a live-in carer may even be necessary for 24-hour care.

The goal is to maintain and improve the quality of life as patients age or struggle with pre-existing conditions. The idea is to promote a sense of independence and improve the self-confidence of people who want to live at home, as opposed to moving into a residential care facility.

Why Is Domiciliary Care Important?

Domiciliary care is important for individuals who want to maintain their quality of life and independence while receiving essential support within the familiar comfort of their own homes. Even when specialised care is necessary, individuals can make choices about their daily routines, such as mealtimes, bedtime, personal hygiene, grooming, and outings. Promoting a higher quality of life is priority.

Domiciliary care benefits people of all ages and needs, such as individuals with special requirements, recovering from surgery, or who benefit from assistance with daily living tasks. Through personalised care plans tailored to individual needs and existing routines, domiciliary care ensures flexibility and adaptability as needs evolve, making it a vital component in improving the overall well-being of individuals and their families.
